We take care of orphaned & disabled children, some seriously ill with severe epilepsy, psychological problems (due to prior abuse, or slavery), complications due to level 3 HIV/border-line AIDS and blind/deaf disabilities. Kampot has no medical care or hospitals available for these conditions. We have to travel to Phnom Penh every month to give the right treatment to our children. Without treatment some could die, or their health conditions deteriorate. We need support for transport costs
Many orphaned children who have HIV or epilepsy are rejected by their extended families. There is no proper foster care system in Cambodia and some family members even sell their children into slavery. Others take advantage of children's vulnerability and abuse them sexually and physically. The misery and trauma following this kind of suffering and abuse leaves life-long scars. Kampot Province does not have medical care for epilepsy, severe psychological trauma, disability & HIV related problems
This micro-project will provide urgently needed support for transport costs to take our children to different centres in Phnom Penh according to their needs. The project will support us to take children with epilepsy and HIV complications to Kunthea Bopha Hospital, for our deaf child to "All Ears" and for children with psychological disturbances and trauma to a specialist centre in Kandal Province. Recently 2 children were bitten by a stray, rabid dog, we had to take them 3 times to Phnom Penh!
The impact of this project is to save lives and improve the quality of life for our special needs children. It supports us, so that we can support all our children living at our school who benefit from a safe, loving environment. Our children need to live a normal life and we provide them with scholastic education and high quality training in traditional Cambodian arts, as well as vocational training. We really need to know that we can afford to take our children to hospital whenever they need
