There are two Kenyans, Janet Ifedha, and Bernard Agona, who would like to attend the three-week Healing and Rebuilding Our Community (HROC) International Training in Rwanda beginning on February 3. They each need scholarship aid of $1,000 for a total of $2,000. I know people have just finished their end-of-the-year donations and that January is a difficult month to raise funds, but the training starts soon. I would appreciate your support. David Zarembka
Janet Ifedha
Janet Ifedha has been the treasurer of Transforming Community for Social Change and its predecessor organization since 2007. She has more than ten years experience as an Alternatives to Violence (AVP) facilitator. She comments, “I would wish to use the AVP and HROC skills to assist myself, family and the people around me to bring peace between each other.”
Bernard Agona
Bernard Agona currently is coordinating the Turning the Tide (TTT) program in Kenya and has helped introduce TTT to Rwanda and Burundi. He is also a long time AVP facilitator and is trained in Transformative Mediation. He comments, “I intent to integrate HROC skills with Turning the Tide skills to help conflict/violent prone communities realize sustainable peace and justice. HROC skills will help the TTT team to engage unsettled communities more confidently by introducing HROC followed by TTT. Apart from peace work as I am a pastor in my community, I will also use HROC skills in my pastoral work.”
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
