This project helps attain a space for children to attend school safe from violence. Sadly, on April 13, 2021, armed gangsters came to our partner school, College Les Sophos d'Haiti, and threatened to kill the director in front of the students if the school did not close. On June 3, 2021, the school was badly vandalized by the same gangsters. We had to vacate the location for the safety of the students and staff . These gangsters wanted to steal the land from its owners in order to sale it.
Registration for the new school year was already at 500 pupils. These students will not be able to continue their education since they can't afford to pay the tuition rates of other schools. In Haiti, schools dismiss students for inability to pay tuition. If we can't provide them a new facility, the children will be in the streets. We must acquire a new space with adequate security.
A new, safe and secured facility will keep the students in school and help them overcome the trauma of violence in a nurturing environment. Each one of our students have the innate potential to become the leaders of tomorrow through education. Your help will keep them on tract and avoid a life without hope and opportunity that leads them to the streets.
A new space to have the school will have the children overcome the trauma of violence and losing their old school. By investing in their education and safety, you are helping to lay the path for the children to become informed adults more capable of helping their society overcome its problems.
